Fact: ICG report on ERITREA not credible, motivated by hate and anger.

As the United Nations general assembly is convening in New York this
week, many groups will come out with annual reports to get their share of
the pie by hook or crook and one such group is the ICG. These reports must
come out if these organizations are to get their funding for their survival.
However when countries that want to have nothing to do with them nor
acknowledge them as a legitimate organization, they get in their way, they
start picking and choosing on targeting them. One such nation being targeted
is Eritrea. While the self-reliant Eritrea gets attacked, their poster child
groupie yes man undemocratic leader gets invited to speak at a very
prestigious university during this same week to mislead the world as if he
is an expert on the entire continent of Africa. The response from thousands
of Ethiopians who took a trip to New York should clearly show that the ICG
or the UN would not thwart the voice of the people. The fact that Eritrea
can’t be penetrated through these ill devised groups who have only created
misery to most of Africa has angered them and so they are giving it another
try to defame, lie and weasel their way into trying to pressure this self
reliant nation. “The Siege State” as they called Eritrea on their report has
withstood so much adversity and unfair treatment by the world’s powerful. It
will remain an independent, fair and a nation that will work in partnership
with those who want to work equally and fairly.

Let us start with Bill Clinton who has been at the forefront of the
trenches with his global initiative plan. While his intentions may be good
as his slogan says, his actions and results are no good for those that
already have a vision or plan of their own. In Eritrea’s case the people and
government have a long term plan to build a nation from scratch and they
seem to be headed in the right direction which is going against the
structure of those who thought it would fail by now. Well! Eat your hearts
out, Eritrea is very well Alive and kicking and almost eliminating hunger
without your help. I mention Mr. Clinton because in New York this week, he
has assembled many leaders of countries and CEOs of organizations for his
global initiative sponsored events. Some of these people also happen to be
the movers and shakers of the organization known as International Crisis
Group. As most of you know this is an organization that gets over 40% of
it’s backing from governments throughout the world. So that you know here is
a list of them, Agence Intergouvernementale de la francophonie, Australia,
Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Holland, Finland, France,
Germany, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Taiwan, Denmark, Norway,
Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK and the US. Isn’t it a bit hard to
believe that those who pay the piper would continue to do so, if reports
were critical of government policies—Western governments and their conflict
“management” in particular? ICG is also supported by various foundations
(covering 43%)—Rockefeller, Ford, MacArthur, US Institute for Peace
(established by Ronald Reagan), Carnegie, Sarlo Jewish Community Endowment
Fund, Hewlett, etc. and private sector donors (16%). None of them Africans
and those who care about Africa. These people come from countries that are
former colonizers of Africa who still have the need to take from Africa as
if they have already not looted resources worth billions and billions of
dollars.

And so why are we talking about ICG? It is because they have done their
field research that according to them is done by using their capacity of
“over 100 staff members on five continents, working through field-based
analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict.”
Well in Eritrea’s case they couldn’t find field researchers from the
heartland of the country so what do they do? They start speaking with
disgruntled professors from the United States who have never been to Eritrea
in the last few years, and anti-Eritrea elements that make their bread and
butter through the NGO industry even at the expense of the Eritrean nation.
They are mostly based in Europe and most of us recall recently that they
were assembled in Belgium. I mean out of all places Belgium where many
atrocities were committed against African people in the past. These people
are well paid agents of groups like the ICG and in the end one can see right
through their eyes as to why the report on Eritrea came out this week during
the UN general assembly. By the way for those who may not have an idea, it
is very important to notice that the United Nations allows organizations
like ICG to have input on a lot of their decisions. Although seats in the
U.N. General Assembly are ostensibly held by 185 "sovereign nations" from
around the world, they are outnumbered more than two-to-one by about 500
seat-holding NGO's who can submit papers, call for votes, exercise influence
by lobbying 'real' members, etc. The only thing they can't do is vote. An
additional 3,000 NGOs hold, not seats, but hold a "consultant" status at the
U.N. Pretty much like the way Capitol Hill operates on issues affecting the
United States.

So at the end of the day the current garbage report that was written
by the ICG as well as the one line news item written by Reuters and picked
up by the likes of CNN, BBC and other anti-Eritrea outlets which claims
Eritrea is one of the worst places to educate children was done to defame
the SELF RELIANT nation which prides itself with real results. May be ICG &
others should send field researchers to see the reality in Eritrea as most
people have done only to find out that the reality in Eritrea is very
different. The country is showing that it can develop and grow on it’s own.
May be it’s best that groups such as the ICG and even the United Nations
itself leave Eritrea alone, saving some embarrassment for themselves. Why
they are going out of their way to bat for failures that pose as Eritrean
experts is beyond anyone’s imagination. All of the people whose name appears
on the reports are people who have no knowledge of the real Eritrea, the one
that is marching towards the promise land.

Zelalemawi zikri swatna.
