Eritrea through to Cecafa U-20 final
Hosts Eritrea beat Rwanda 1-0 in their Council of East and Central
Africa Football Association (Cecafa) Under-20 semifinal in Asmara on
Wednesday.
The all-important goal came from a spot kick. The referee awarded a
penalty when Rwanda’s defender Michel Rusheshangoga handled a
goal-bound ball after his goalkeeper Marcel Nzarira had been beaten.
Then Eritrean captain Abraham Tendros took the responsibility and
converted the penalty in the 73rd minute. The slim victory propels
Eritrea to another landmark. It is the first time Eritrea has made it
to the finals of a Cecafa tournament.
