AN Ethiopian, Geta-Yawkal, who died in the bomb blasts in Kampala last
Sunday, used to tell his friends that he felt something bad would happen to
him and urged them to take care, a high priest has said.

Bishop Aba Haileyesus of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church at Bbunga in
Kampala was speaking to mourners on Friday during Geta-Yawkals funeral
service.

Haileyesus described Geta-yawkal as a person who was jolly, hardworking and
a strong believer in the church.
Geta-Yawkal, who was in his mid-thirties, was the manager of Mabira
Guest-house.

In a related development, Rev. Fr. Tesfallen Kidane led a funeral service at
Old Kampala community centre for six Eritreans who died in the blasts at the
Ethiopian Village restaurant in Kabalagala.

They are Habtom Grmay Cebreedfu, Nardos Mebrahtu Mesfn, Kaleb Fekeste
Gebremichael, Efrem Tesfghergsh Bru, Efrem Nway Kidane and Simon Yemane
Ardemichael.

Prime Minister Apolo Nsibambi sent a condolence message to the bereaved
families and to the communities of the two nations living in Kampala.

The message was delivered by Vivian Oyella, an official from the Prime
Ministers office, at a funeral service at the Eritrean community centre.

The honourary consul of Eritrea in Uganda, Tesfalem Gherahtu, told The New
Vision that he would accompany the bodies of the fallen Ethiopian and the
Eritreans back home.

He said six Eritreans were undergoing treatment in hospitals in Kampala. Six
others were flown back home after treatment, Gherahtu added.
