Marytrs' Day was commemorated in the city of Toronto on June 20th 2010.
Eritreans gathered at Etienne Brule Park at 4pm to remember all the fallen
heroes who sacrificed their lives for the independence and sovereignty of
our nation and the protection of our frontiers.
Mr. Efrem Weldesamuel, head of the Martryrs' Committee for Toronto spoke
during the event and highlighted the contributions made by individuals and
organizations in Toronto towards the Martyrs' Trust Fund. Mr. Semere
Gebremariam, head of public affairs at the Eritrean Consulate in Toronto
read the message of the President of Eritrea marking this important day.
It should be noted that the Martyrs' Day Committee also held a video tribute
on the 19th of June at the Eritrean Canadian Association of Ontario (ECAO)
community centre.
