Commencement Of Academic Year With New Spirit

The coming of September always signifies the return of teachers as well
as students to commence on a new academic year after the summer break.
Education is a basic right to everyone and enables human beings to fully
participate and contribute in the day to day activities of their
respective society. As this is the case, the macro policy of the
Eritrean government regarding education underlines that education should
be available to everyone so as to help them break free from the yokes of
poverty and backwardness and improve their lives.

The policy also highlights the value of education and establishes the
provision of education and its components as a strategic cornerstone of
the national development and the nation building process. It is for this
reason that the Government of Eritrea is making huge investment each
year towards ensuring and developing educational provision in all parts
of Eritrea.

This being the target that is being sought to be acquired, it is
needless to say that this task's main implementers are teachers, as
leaders are pivotal in bringing about change and development. Their
involvement in such undertaking should therefore be honored by all
members of the society.

Here it should also be stated that it is also the duty of teachers to
act responsibly in imparting knowledge on their students and setting an
example and assuming the position of ideal role models. It is also the
duty of the students to realize the fact that nothing can be acquired
without education and therefore devote themselves to seeking education
and have a voracious and insatiable desire to learn .Parents also have a
great role in the teaching and learning process. A failure of a student
in a classroom most of the times finds its roots in parents.

In this commencement of the scholastic year, parents are expected to
become conscious of their role in the education of their children and
contribute their part by actively monitoring the education performance
of their sons and daughters so as to provide their children an
everlasting legacy.
Wishing everyone a successful academic year!
