CECAFA U17: Uganda in finals, awaits Sudan/Eritrea

Tanzania 1-1 (penalties 4-5) Uganda

KHARTOUM - Uganda beat Tanzania in a penalty shoot-out at Khartoum
Stadium on Friday night to reach the final of the Cecafa Under-17 Youth
Championship in Sudan.

Thomas Emanuel put Tanzania ahead in the sixth minute, receiving a long
high ball at the 18-yard box and cleverly lobbing it high over an
advancing Uganda goalkeeper Joseph Sebulima.

But the Tanzanians were unable to protect their advantage and fell to a
Dan Serunkuma equaliser just before half time. A hesitant Tanzania
defence failed to deal with a cross from the right claiming the passer
was offside. An on-side Serunkuma had the easiest of tasks guiding the
ball in past Tanzania 'keeper Saleh Malande.

The second half was initially frantic but towards the end Tanzania just
hang on to force extra-time. But in the scoreless added time the
Tanzanians had the better tactics against a frustrated Uganda whose
traditional football was muzzled by the nibble-footed Tanzanians.

In the shoot-out, all Uganda penalties went in but after Tanzania had
missed their fourth when Simon Msuva's kick was kept off by the cross
bar, Uganda skipper Ceaser Mulumba hit in their fifth to send the
Ugandans celebrating at reaching the Monday Cecafa final at Khartoum
Stadium.

The penalty takers were, Uganda: 1. Joseph Ssebulimba, 7. Mohammed
Gadafi Anguzu, 17. William Kizito Luwaga, 10. Dan Muzeyi Serukuma and
