Eritrea will face a tough Zanzibar team tomorrow. As most of you know
Zanzibar and Tanganyika make up the nation of Tanzania. The Zanzibar
national football team is the national team of
Zanzibar<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zanzibar>,
and is controlled by the Zanzibar Football
Association<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zanzibar_Football_Association>.
Zanzibar is not a member of FIFA <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA> and is
therefore not eligible to enter either the World
Cup<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_World_Cup> or
the African Nations Cup <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Nations_Cup>.
The island is part of the nation of
Tanzania<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanzania> which
holds FIFA recognition at the international level. Prior to the union of
Zanzibar and Tanganyika <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanganyika> in 1964,
Zanzibar was a fully independent member of the Confederation of African
Football <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederation_of_African_Football>
(CAF),
but never qualified for the African Nations Cup. It was also an associate
member of CAF between 2007 and 2009. They regularly play in the CECAFA
Cup<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CECAFA_Cup>,
which includes national teams from Central and East Africa, and in 1995 they
became champions, winning the final match 1-0 against the host nation,
Uganda <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uganda_national_football_team>.
Tomorrow they play Eritrea who has beaten the defending champions Burundi
3-1 at the end of last week. Meanwhile Burundi redeemed themselves and made
it to the quarterfinals after drawing with Rwanda who also drew earlier on
against Eritrea. Burundi will take on hosts Sudan. Sudan was also back in
the tourney after having to forfeit their first game for using overage
players, they take on Burundi in the second game.

**Tomorrow**
Zanzibar v Eritrea 2:30pm
Burundi v Sudan 4:30pm* *

*Good luck to our REDSEA BOYS and hope they get to make it to the
Semifinals.*
