CECAFA U17 kicks off, schedule revised

The second edition of the CECAFA U17 Championships will kick off today
with a single clash between Ethiopia and Uganda (This match ended 4-0 to
Uganda)
at the Juba International Stadium.
Thanks to the recent strike by Kenya Airways staff that created a back
log, three teams; Kenya, Zanzibar and Rwanda failed to arrive in Sudan
on time hence a revision of the fixtures.
Initially Zanzibar were to face Ethiopia and then Kenya play Uganda in a
double-decker opener but both Zanzibar and Kenya got caught up the Kenya
Airways workers strike resulting in their late arrival.
Kenya has now been scheduled to take on Zanzibar tomorrow with Rwanda
taking on guest Egypt.
The 12 teams taking part in the event are pooled as follows:
Group A: Sudan, Malawi (replaces Nigeria), Somalia & Tanzania
Group B: Kenya, Uganda, Zanzibar & Ethiopia
Group C: Burundi (defending Champs), Eritrea, Egypt & Rwanda.
Fixtures:
Wednesday 19th August 2009: Ethiopia Vs Uganda
Thursday 20th August 2009: Kenya Vs Zanzibar, Sudan Vs Tanzania, Burundi
Vs Eritrea & Rwanda Vs Egypt
