A Refined Political Culture That Guaranteed Stability

By Staff

The rationale behind the Eritrean people's independence and securing
its rightful place in the world is that it defied and withstood numerous
global conspiracies and intimidations through its strong political zeal
and commitment that is identified with the love of the country and
strong national unity.

Such political strength is not something that was handed to the people
of Eritrea in a golden platter or as a divinely provided sustenance, but
rather an outcome that bore refined political
culture.

When the struggle of independence started, although it reflected on the
desire of the people of Eritrea to become independent, the perceptual
framework or mindset of that time failed to ensure national unity and
the eventual success of the struggle.

As it is known, such mindset from the onset was prone to amplifying
differences between sections of society, entertaining chauvinistic and
furthering narrow minded
sentiments.

And therefore, the Enemies of the people of Eritrea, fully grasping the
fact that they couldn't win their war only through the barrel of the
gun, went down to the lowest of social hierarchies and always tried to
sow discord amongst its elements until the time of
their demise.

Nevertheless, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it
strengthened the people further.

The Eritrean people therefore eliminated all sentiments of regionalism
and divisive attitudes to succeed in their struggle, a struggle that
claimed and was ensured
through martyrdom of many of its citizens.

The Superpowers of the world, the United States and later the Soviet
Union attempts to wipe out the Eritrean struggle for independence siding
with the Ethiopian colonizers has enabled the EPLF to become one of the
well established and politically strong organizations that depends
solely from its people and defy the huge threat the world has never
seen.

No force has mobilized the people of Eritrea like that of the EPLF,
multiplying limited capacity through the utilization of strong political
desire and zeal, and that of few to multitudes.

It is because of this reason that after our independence, some forces
that have rather decided they could get some profit from chaos and the
destabilization of this region have started pulling the strings behind
their puppet the TPLF regime and try to engage the people of Eritrea in
a proxy war, out of which the people of Eritrea came out victorious.

This is also another reason why many intrigues and conspiracies
fermented against the people of Eritrea as well as the several threats
have failed to find an outcome. Nothing stands a chance against the wall
of our political strength built with martyrdom.

The people of Eritrea, thanks to the results that were acquired during
the struggle for independence through martyrdom were able to build a
strong national unity and political culture that laid the groundwork for
a system of governance characterized by its justice, wide participation,
and most of all its political stability.

Eritrea, even though it is part of the Horn of Africa, a region which
is characterized by turmoil, chaos and succession of conflicts, is the
sole politically stable country belonging to this region.

This political system has also laid the foundation for the nation
building process, as stability is a precondition towards development.

It is for this reason that the accomplishments of Eritrea to date in
sectors of agriculture, industrial production, service provision and
others is unparalleled in any other African nations that have been
independent for more than 50 or 60 years.

What has been acquired in the process, the confi dence and self-reliant
way of life acquired in the course has made the future of Eritrea
visible in the horizon. A hopeful nation, a product of refi ned
political culture.
