Somalia: Sheik Aweys condemns US policy on Somalia

..He accused the United States of being destroying Somalia. A statement from
the group said the United States is pressuring Eritrea of its rejection
against the Ethiopian invasion to Somalia.
Mogadishu (Mareeg) - The leader Hizbul Islam rebel group, Sheik Hassan Dahir
Aweys, has condemned US policy on Somalia on Saturday and described the US
policy as atrocities.
"We thought the Obama administration would positively change Somalia's
politics, but it has worsened," Aweys said.
"The United States supported the invasion of the Ethiopian troops and the
African Union troops who are currently in Somalia," Sheik Aweys added.
He accused the United States of being destroying Somalia. A statement from
the group said the United States is pressuring Eritrea of its rejection
against the Ethiopian invasion to Somalia.
"We know that the United States is sending military equipment to the country
to weaken the Somali people," the statement added.
The group of Hasasn Dahir Aweys is allied with Al-Shabaab which is fighting
against the Somali government.
Sheik Aweys and Sheik Sharif were once close friends but they split up when
Sheik Sharif reconciled with the Transitional Federal government and became
president in January 2009.
Somalia has been torn by civil war since 1991, and the government of
President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed controls only small pockets of the capital
Mogadishu.
