Power of Ideas: Cardinal Denominator for Social Development

By Staff

The 10th round cadre training is undergoing at the School of Social
Studies in Nakfa town. The successive cadre training during the armed
struggle for independence had a crucial role in raising the awareness
and realization of the vision and objectives of the Eritrean people.
Since this target and objectives does not come to an end with the
victory of the armed struggle for independence, the continuation of
inculcating the desired ideology among the people has been found
indispensable recognizing its role in nation building.

Human beings are ceaselessly working hard with the aspiration of
achieving a better future in which they could lead a life of happiness
with secure provision of food shelter and occupation. This being a
universal desire of all societies, its realization has become the
challenge of all-human brain and especially philosophers. And as a
result new ideas have been emerging from time to time. The society that
outlines and pursues the most pronounced ideology and inculcates it in
an organized way among the community has a better chance of attaining
sustainable development. Hence the core of contemporary development of
society is mainly the inventiveness of the human brain and the ideology
upheld by the society. Besides the natural features of the world, all
the other ingredients are the products of human ideology. In brief man
lives through the power of ideology. The speed of the expedition and the
outcome differs in accordance to the development and dissemination of
the ideology.

A society that has no vision and coherent ideology that illustrates its
principles and social values, delineates its aspirations and satisfies
its interest could not progressively advance and continue its existence.
As the saying goes, you march forward the same distance that you look
backward; a country or a society that has not developed plausible and
regular ideology cannot be identified from where it came from, in what
condition it is existing and where it is heading. Moreover, as a boat
which has lost its direction as a consequence of lack of a pilot a map
and a compass is doomed to destruction.

The objective of cadre training is, therefore, to inculcate on the minds
of the people the ideology that could empower the society in its
endeavors to attain its desired development. Without having coherent and
lucid idea it would be impossible to grasp one's aspiration and
objective. During the armed struggle for independence the EPLF with the
maxim "when ideology is inculcated into the minds of the people it
becomes material power" had worked hard to raise the political awareness
of the people and the freedom fighters under an organized aspiration and
finally to victory. Hence, the victory achieved is the outcome of the
national ideology the Eritrean people developed. The objective of the
Eritrean people is not to stand idle after the attainment of
independence. Securing independence is one element of its objective. The
ultimate objective of the Eritrean people is to build a nation in which
there exists a complete social justice. A country that provides value to
its people and one that is respected by others.

The Eritrean people already have a clear ideology and a cumulated
Experience to realize its objectives. The success of this ideology will
be realized into the mind of every citizen. That is why the training of
cadres is not only being successively provided but is also set to
continue.
