Somali clashes kill 40 Ethiopian troops

South Somalia rocked by violence, has forced thousands to flee.
Clashes between warring factions in Somalia's Wanlaweyn town have left
28 Ethiopian soldiers dead and four military vehicles destroyed.
Al-Shabaab fighters and Ethiopian soldiers clashed on the outskirts of
Wanlaweyn town in Somalia's Shabelle region Sunday, resulting in the
death of the soldiers, Press TV correspondent in Somalia said.
Clashes in the South Somali regions of Afgoye, Bakool and Bay have also
been reported. Another 12 Ethiopian soldiers have been killed in Baidoa
town as they passed through on their way to join troops fighting in
Wenlaweyn.
Many displaced Somalis from neighboring areas used to take refuge in
Bakool and Bay, but the recent violence in these regions has left
thousands of fleeing residents and refugees escaping Mogadishu with
nowhere to go.
