      President Isaias holds talks in Dubai with different UAE officials

Asmara, 14 October 2008 - President Isaias Afwerki, who is in Dubai on a working visit, held talks yesterday with different officials of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on developing bilateral relations and the available different investment opportunities in Eritrea.

In a meeting with Sheik Mansour Bin Zaid, Minister of Presidential Affairs, the two sides discussed the significance of UAE's investment in Eritrea and its role in enhancing relations between the two countries. Sheik Mansour Bin Zaid expressed admiration to the existing conducive investment climate and transparency in Eritrea.

President Isaias on his part outlined the historical relations between Eritrea and the UAE and lauded the firm stance of the Emirates under the leadership of Sheik Zaid Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan in the just struggle of the Eritrean people for independence.

     
Also in the evening hours yesterday, the President held talks with the Governor General of the Abu Dhabi Development Trust Fund, Mr. Mohammed Seif Al-Sweid, on the role of the Trust in Eritrea's agricultural development.

Moreover, President Isaias conducted discussion with Mr. Abdalla Al-Kubeisi, an official of international investment company in the petroleum sector, focusing on the investment opportunities in Eritrea in the domains of mining and other sectors. Mr. Abdalla Al-Kubeisi asserted that UAE companies are ready to engage themselves in the mining sector through making good use of the conducive investment prospects in Eritrea.

President Isaias left for Dubai yesterday on a working visit.
