Ethiopia banned from 2010

The world football governing body, Fifa has kicked Ethiopia out of the
qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The world football governing body, Fifa has kicked Ethiopia out of the
qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The decision was taken by the bureau of the organising committee for the
Fifa world cup.
The ban to take part in the world cup qualifying matches mean that
Ethiopia’s results from all four matches played to date in group eight
are now cancelled.
The emergency committee of football's world governing body suspended the
Ethiopia Football Federation, EEF, on 29 July this year following
problems which began in a January meeting when EEf fired the
federation's president Dr Ashebir Woldergiorgis and elected Ahmed Yasin
to replace him.
However, that January meeting was not recognised by Fifa, who together
with Confederation of African Football then released a roadmap in
February aimed at rectifying the situation.
Ethiopia’s ban means there are now just three teams left in group eight,
-Morocco, Mauritania and Rwanda.
