This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period August
29-September 4,
2008.

*Wheat: *Net sales of 457,300 metric tons were up 5 percent from the
previous week, but down 23 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases
reported for Japan (107,400 MT), the Philippines (79,600 MT), Egypt (60,000
MT), Mexico (41,000 MT), Taiwan (39,700 MT), and Colombia (38,800 MT,
including 7,400 MT switched from Mexico), were partially offset by decreases
for Malaysia (15,000 MT), unknown destinations (6,200 MT), and Iran (5,200
MT). Optional origin sales of 10,000 MT were for Tunisia. Exports of
687,900 MT were down 19 percent from the previous week and the prior 4-week
average. The

primary destinations were Japan (177,000 MT), Iran (128,600 MT), the
Philippines (77,600 MT), Indonesia (61,200 MT), Iraq (50,700 MT), Nigeria
(47,700 MT), and Mexico (47,600 MT).* *

*Corn*: Net sales of 376,300 MT for the 2008/09 marketing year (which began
Sept. 1) were primarily for Mexico (122,300 MT), South Korea (102,100 MT),
unknown destinations (53,000 MT), Guatemala (30,000 MT), Venezuela (20,000
MT), and Canada (17,100 MT). A total of 2,577,600 MT in sales were
outstanding on August 31 (the end of the 2007/08 marketing year) and carried
over to the 2008/09 marketing year. Accumulated exports for the 2007/008
marketing year were 59,968,100 MT, up 11 percent from the prior year's total
of 54,068,700 MT. Exports for September 1-4 of 199,300 MT were mainly for
Japan (59,400 MT), Mexico (58,400 MT), and South Korea (58,100 MT).

*Barley: *Net sales of 1,900 MT resulted as increases for Morocco (20,000
MT, including 18,500 MT switched from unknown destinations) and Canada (400
MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (18,500
MT). Exports of 20,300 MT were reported for Morocco (20,000 MT), Mexico
(200 MT), and Canada (100 MT).

*Sorghum: *Net sales of 49,800 MT for the 2008/09 marketing year (which
began Sept. 1) for Mexico (46,300 MT) and Italy (38,500 MT, including 35,000
switched from unknown destinations), were partially offset by decreases for
unknown destinations (35,000 MT). A total of 212,200 MT in sales were
outstanding on August 31 (the end of the 2007/08 marketing year) and carried
over to the 2008/2009 marketing year. Final shipments of 38,100 MT for
August 29-31 were for Eritrea (27,600 MT) and Mexico (10,500 MT).
Accumulated exports of 6,194,500 MT for the 2007/08 were ­­­up 85 percent
from the 3,339,900 MT exported the previous year. Exports of 62,600 MT for
September 1-4 were for Italy (38,500) MT and Mexico (24,100 MT).

*Rice: *Net sales of 58,000 MT were nearly two and three-quarters times the
previous week and 16 percent above the prior 4-week average. The major
buyers were Venezuela (30,000 MT), Canada (7,900 MT), Jordan (6,500 MT),
Haiti (6,000 MT), and the French Pacific Islands (3,900 MT). Exports of
12,500 MT were 70 percent below the previous week and 76 percent under the
prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were the Philippines (4,400
MT), Jordan (2,200 MT), Mexico (1,500 MT), and Canada (1,200 MT).* *

*Soybeans*: Net sales of 459,900 MT for the 2008/09 marketing year (which
began Sept. 1) were primarily for China (170,000 MT), South Korea (110,000
MT), Egypt (78,000 MT), Japan (40,900 MT), and

Taiwan (23,600 MT). A total of 888,100 MT in sales were outstanding on
August 31 (the end of the 2007/08 marketing year) and carried over to the
2008/09 marketing year. Exports of 38,100 MT were reported for August
29-31. The primary destinations were Japan (26,200 MT), Taiwan (8,500 MT),
and Indonesia (2,700 MT). Accumulated exports for the 2007/08 marketing
year were 30,449,500 MT, up 1 percent from the 30,288,300 MT reported in
2006/07. Exports of 33,100 MT were reported for September 1-4. The primary
destinations were Mexico (14,900 MT), Taiwan (12,200 MT), Indonesia (2,600
MT), Japan (1,600 MT), and Canada (1,300 MT). * *

*Soybean Cake and Meal*: Net sales of 30,700 MT were down 70 percent from
the previous week and 47 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases
reported for Venezuela (26,900 MT), Canada (3,200 MT) and Guyana (2,100 MT,
switched from the French West Indies), were partially offset by decreases
for the French West Indies (2,100 MT) and Guatemala (1,100 MT). Net sales
of 52,400 MT for delivery in 2008/09 were mainly for the Philippines (40,000
MT). Decreases were for unknown destinations (1,700 MT. Exports of 71,000
MT were down 26 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the prior
4-week average. The primary destinations were France (26,500 MT), Canada
(23,400 MT), Guatemala (9,000 MT), the Philippines (3,300 MT), and Guyana
(2,100 MT).* *

*Soybean Oil*: Net sales reductions of 6,800 MT resulted as increases for
Canada (200 MT) and Taiwan (100 MT), were more than offset by decreases for
Mexico (7,200 MT). Net sales of 7,200 MT for delivery in 2008/09 were for
Mexico (7,200 MT). Exports of 1,100 MT were primarily to Canada (700 MT),
Mexico (100 MT), and Jamaica (100 MT).

*Cotton: *Net Upland sales of 138,300 running bales were up considerably
from the previous week, but down 36 percent from the prior 4-week average.
Increases reported for Turkey (34,400 RB), Mexico (21,800 RB), Indonesia
(20,100 RB), Thailand (12,400 RB), China (9,800 RB, including 2,200 RB
switched from Taiwan), and Vietnam (9,300 RB), were partially offset by
decreases for unknown destinations (400 RB) and Hong Kong (300 RB). Net
sales of 20,800 RB for delivery in 2009/10 were mainly for Mexico (18,900
RB. Exports of 233,700 RB were up 3 percent from the previous week, but
down 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were
China (81,900 RB), Mexico (22,800 RB), Turkey (17,800 RB), Taiwan (15,200
RB), and Pakistan (14,500 RB). Net American Pima sales of 1,900 RB were
mainly for Japan (900 RB) and Peru (400 RB). Exports of 1,600 RB were
primarily to Thailand (1,000 RB) and South Korea (500 RB).* *

*Hides and Skins: *Net sales of 292,000 pieces were down 46 percent from
the previous week and 35 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole
cattle hide sales of 293,900 pieces were mainly for China (152,100 pieces),
South Korea (73,700 pieces), Taiwan (41,300 pieces), Vietnam (9,100 pieces),
and Japan (8,500 pieces). Exports of 477,400 pieces were down 4 percent
from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole
cattle hide exports of 454,900 pieces were primarily to China (250,500
pieces), South Korea (80,600 pieces), Taiwan (36,600 pieces), Mexico (25,000
pieces), and Vietnam (22,800 pieces).

Net sales of 129,300 wet blues were up two and one-fifth times from the
previous week and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were
mainly for China (48,400 unsplit and 19,900 grain splits), Hong Kong (16,900
unsplit), South Korea (14,900 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (11,600 grain
splits), and Taiwan (8,200 unsplit). Exports of 115,000 hides were up 8
percent from the previous week, but unchanged from the prior 4-week
average. The primary destinations were Taiwan (29,600 unsplit), China
(20,200 unsplit and 5,400 grain splits), Italy (12,100 unsplit and 3,600
grain splits), and the Dominican Republic (11,600 grain splits and 3,200
unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 663,300 pounds were for South Korea
(495,000 pounds) and China (168,300 pounds). Exports of 284,300 pounds were
down 61 percent from the previous week and 57 percent from the prior 4-week
average. The destinations were China (184,300 pounds) and Hong Kong
(100,000 pounds).

*Beef*: Net sales of 6,500 MT were primarily for South Korea (3,600 MT),
Canada (1,400 MT), Mexico (800 MT), Japan (300 MT), Taiwan (200 MT), and
Hong Kong (200 MT). Exports of 12,100 MT were mainly to Mexico (4,500 MT),
South Korea (3,000 MT), Canada (1,300 MT), Russia (900 MT), Japan (900 MT),
Vietnam (800 MT), Taiwan (300 MT), and Hong Kong (200 MT).
