Ethiopian government blames Ethiopian rebel group and Eritrean government for deaths of 5 in border restaurant last month.
TedrosHagos of the ruling Tigray People’s Liberation Front party said onThursday that the rebel Tigray People’s Democratic Movement isresponsible for the April 25 bombing of a restaurant near theEthiopian-Eritrean border that killed 5 and wounded 20. Tedros alsosaid the bombers were trained by the Eritrean government in order todiscredit Ethiopia’s 23 May national parliamentary elections.
TPDMspokesman Giday Assefa denied any responsibility for the bombing, inwhich all victims were civilians.And Eritrea’s information minister,Ali Abdu, denied that his government has trained any rebel groups tofoment violence in Ethiopia.
Tedros said TPDM members have been identified on Eritrean television in military training sessions with the Eritrean government.
