President Mubarak receives the Eritrean President during his visit to Egypt to discuss settling the Somali dispute

The Official Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry stated that the Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki is to conduct a three-day visit to Egypt as of May 4, 2010.

During the visit the Eritrean President will meet with President Mubarak and hold meetings with the Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and senior officials to discuss bilateral issues and joint cooperation in various areas and to talk about regional and international matters of mutual interest.

The Official Spokesman outlined that the visit comes within the framework of the bilateral constant contacts held at the presidential level to discuss the situations in the Horn of Africa and the means to settling the dispute in Somalia by reaching a common regional vision regarding the achievement of national reconciliation in Somalia.

He clarified that the President has sent Foreign Minister Ahmed aboul Gheit and Minister Omar Soliman to Asmara last October wherein they handed a letter from His Excellency to President Afewerki regarding the Egyptian vision on the developments in Somalia.

Moreover, the Official Spokesman added that the accompanying delegation to the Eritrean President involves senior Eritrean officials in charge of supporting the bilateral relations in different fields including commerce, investment education and health. They will be discussing the means of enhancing cooperation in these fields.
