SUDAN: BASHIR RETURNS HOME AFTER ERITREA VISIT; SUFI SECT SUPPORT HIS
PRESIDENCY

KHARTOUM, , March 7 (NNN-SUNA) - Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir, Friday
evening returned home after a one-day visit to Asmara, Eritrea, during which
he held talks with the Eritrean President, Assais Afwerki, on progress of
the bilateral relations, means of consolidating the cooperation between
Sudan and Eritrea and regional and international issues of mutual concern.

President Al-Bashir was received upon return at Khartoum Airport by the Vice
President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, and a number of
ministers.

The Presidential Advisor, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, who accompanied
President Al-Bashir during his visit to Asmara, said that Sudan has affirmed
its solidarity with Eritrea in confronting international challenges.

The delegation accompanied President Al-Bashir in his visit to Asmara
included the Presidential Advisor, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, the State
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Ahmed Karti, the Director of the
Intelligence and Security, Gen. Mohamed Attal-Moula, and the State Minister
at the Presidency of the Republic, Idris Mohamed Abdul-Gadir
Sufi Sects Support Al-Bashir Nomination to Presidency of the Republic.

In related development, the Sufi Sects, sheikhs and scholars have expressed
their full support to the nomination of Al-Bashir to the Presidency of the
Republic for the considerable concern of the Salvation Revolution to the
sufi sects.

The representatives of the sufi sects who met Al-Bashir at the Golden Hall
of Aboud Parks, Khartoum North, Saturday affirmed their solid stance to
support his election.

Al-Bashir affirmed his concern over the sufi sects besides spreading of the
Islamic Dawa (call) in Sudan, lauding the role being played by the religious
men to maintain unity.

Al-Bashir also hailed the late former president, Jaffar Nemeri, with regard
to the implementation of the Islamic Sharia in Sudan. -
