YPFDJ-Charlotte successfully hosted the 2nd Annual Southern Regional YPFDJ
Conference held from January 15th-17th in Asheville, North Carolina. The
Southern Region encompassing Charlotte, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, and
Jacksonville has over 100 active members and is continuing to grow. Attended
by 46 youth from the various chapters and presided by Dawit Haile, from the
Office of Public Affairs at the Eritrean Embassy, the event focused on
leadership development, strategic organizational management, and group
synergy enhancement.

The conference opened on Friday the 15th with a meet and greet around a bomb
fire that allowed the attendees to interact and network with each other. The
conference officially turned to business on Saturday as the individual
chapters gave brief synopsis on their current respective activities. The
day continued with lectures and presentations from Dawit Haile and was
followed by several group discussions focusing on leadership and
organizational management. Sunday was a day that was shared with local
community members and parents who were given presentations by local chapter
leaders.

The conference gave the different chapters an opportunity to discuss
resolution 1907 and the continuous barrage of hostility that is being
dislodged at the Eritrean people. The attendees jointly condemned the
sanction and further discussed the development of a strategic and concerted
method of having the illegal sanction annulled. The Southern Regional YPFDJ
Alliance would like to profess it utmost support for the Eritrean people and
government. The alliance will do its part in safe guarding the integrity
and sovereignty of the Eritrean people.

YPFDJ-Charlotte would like to thank all the chapters that made it to North
Carolina for this year’s conference. The organization would also like to
thank our local PFDJ, NUEW, and community leaders that continue to show
their unyielding support. YPFDJ-Charlotte has come a long way since its
inception only a couple years ago and under the guise of a new leadership
committee the organization is poised to make a big impact by helping build a
strong, conscious, and patriotic youth movement!
