ADFD Sanctions Dh73 Million Loan to Eritrea(Staff Report)

ABU DHBAI - The officials of the Abu Dhabi Fund For Development (ADFD)
have agreed to sanction nearly Dh73 million for the infrastructure
development of Eritrea.
 
An agreement to this effect was signed on Tuesday between the Acting
Director-General of ADFD, Mohammad Saif Al Suwaidi, and Secretary
Office of President of Eritrea, Al Ameen Hassan, according to a release
received here.
 
Quoting the Acting Director-General of ADFD, the release said the
project is considered vital to the Eritrean people as it was where aimed
to support the infrastructure of the country. The project also covers
the amounts necessary for the maintenance of those equipments and as
well as training those who will be working on the equipments.
 
The release said ADFD had contributed Dh104 million in 1999 for
financing the Electrical Power and Transmission Project. According to
Al Suwidi, this agreement was signed as per the directives of the
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Shaikh
Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy
Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed
Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board Directors of ADFD, the release said.
