Eritrean Festival 2009 in Stockholm Sweden.
The National Holiday Celebration Committee in Stockholm will host a
four-day Festival from 30- July until 3rd of August in Sweden capital Stockholm.
This is a wonderful and unique occasion for introducing an international audience
to Eritrean cultures and traditions as well as the many talented Eritrean artists
from all over the world.
The first ever Shanet Awards portraying excellence in Eritrea’s musical culture
and showcasing Eritrea’s musical treasures, star-power and glamour, will
debut at the Festival in Stockholm. The many different audiences will gain
an insight into Eritrean culture through the enjoyment of music.
The Festival in Stockholm will highlight development efforts in independent
Eritrea and provide a recount of Eritrean history through art and music.
Prominently featured will be Eritrean music and its continued impact and
contribution in Eritrean history, the 30-year struggle for independence, and
post war reconstruction and development of independent Eritrea.
The Shanet Awards will create a platform to celebrate and experience
the exciting variety in Eritrean musical styles.
The quality of the performances will help new artists, as well as the more
experienced musicians, learn from each other and improve their future
performances. The Festival organizers hope that the Festival will give Eritrean
artists a fun and creative opportunity for networking and discovery.
The Shanet Awards will be cross-genre and contestants will be judged on
lyrics, clarity of delivery, dynamics, emotional input, creative delivery, quality,
and memorable performance.
All are encouraged to participate in this historic event. In addition to exposure
and recognition at an international event, the best performers will be the
awarded the ultimate prize!
