Abdullah, Afwerki hold talks on ties

Asmara: Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki on Sunday received Shaikh
Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, who arrived earlier
in Eritrea as part of his tour of a number of African countries.
 
Afwerki warmly welcomed Shaikh Abdullah, who conveyed to the Eritrean
president greetings from President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed
Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and
General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and
Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their wishes of
more progress and prosperity for Eritrea and its people.

The Eritrean president also conveyed through Shaikh Abdullah a
reciprocal greetings to the UAE President, Vice President and Abu Dhabi
Crown Prince, wishing them good health and the UAE and its people more
progress and prosperity.
 
They discussed bilateral relations and ways to boost them in all fields,
particularly in the areas of economy, trade and investment. They also
discussed a number of issues of mutual interest in view of the current
developments on the regional and international scenes.
 
Shaikh Abdullah said the visit was within the framework of consolidating
the relations of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and friendly
countries, including Eritrea.
 
The Eritrean president praised the level of relations of friendship and
cooperation in various fields between the UAE and his country. He
expressed his country's desire to extend the bridge of bilateral
cooperation to both private and public sectors.
 
He called for joint actions to activate trade relations and increase
volume of investment between the two countries, through the
encouragement of capital, investment and the private sectors of both
countries.
