Anti-government protests continued in the Oromo region of Ethiopia as demonstrations in West Arsi towns turned violent on Monday.

In Dodola, Adaba and Asasa towns demonstrators demanded the release of their compatriots detained by the regime in the ongoing protests that is well into its eighth month.

Security forces opened fire at the protesters but ESAT’s sources could not verify if there were any injuries as the protest was still going on in the afternoon on Monday.

Tensions remained high in the region as roads leading to and from West Arsi were blocked on Monday.

The sources said there has been a boost up in the number of security forces in the area.

Security forces killed at least 400 protesters in the last eight months of uprising in the Oromo region. Tens of thousands people have been detained without due process of law.
