Karlsruhe (dnw). "One morning before Lampedusa" to the staged reading with music and subsequent discussion will be next Sunday, March 20 in the Christ Church invited (at Mühlburger Tor). It starts at 18 o'clock.
On October 3, 2013 sank off the Italian island of Lampedusa, which lies between Sicily and Africa, a boat with 545 refugees. 366 people drowned: men and women and children from Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia and Syria, fleeing war, violence and poverty, with the hope of a better life in Europe. What happened that morning? What experienced the refugees? How did the residents, tourists and authorities?
The author, Antonio Umberto Riccò from Hanover, compiled from witness statements and documentary material a reading with images, opens the different perspectives on the disaster and in particular the inhabitants of Lampedusa to have their say. The Italian musician Francesco Impastato has composed music for this project.
"One morning before Lampedusa" will be presented by an actress and speaker / inside from Karlsruhe, the reading is accompanied with impressive image projections. The music make "Cantus Juvenum" (Christ Church), led by Priska Beautiful and the German-Italian musician Marco Augusto Kunz.
After the reading, the organizers invite (Protestant congregation at Christ Church, Evangelical adult education Karlsruhe, German, Italian Society Karlsruhe and German branch of the Italian Catholic workforce) in an info-conversation. It will convene in helping refugees responsible and dedicated people, including some from the Karlsruhe Regional Council, the Diakonie Baden, refugee aid and the association "Friends of strangers" part.
Admission is free. Donations will go to the refugee assistance in Karlsruhe.
