San Bernardino Shooting Victim Isaac Amanios Remembered By Family

December 14, 2015 10:30 PM

FONTANA (CBSLA.com) — When San Bernardino shooting victim Isaac
Amanios arrived in the United States 15 years ago from East Africa, he
hoped his new life would give him and his children a greater degree of
safety and security.

Amanios was involved in the Eritrean fight for independence from
Ethiopia in the 1990s, but quickly adapted to life in Fontana and a
job at the San Bernardino Department Of Health.

On Dec. 2, Amanios was killed alongside 13 others in the shooting
attack at the Inland Regional Center — an event that has left “a hole”
in his family, Amanios’ brother-in-law, Robel Tekleab, said.

“He wanted to provide, like every other father,” Tekleab said. “He had
three children to provide for and a future for them to think of.”

He was an honorable man, Tekleab said.

“He was resolute, decisive and also the most honest man you can think
of,” he said.

Among Amanios’ highest priorities for his three children was education.

His two sons and one daughter are currently enrolled in college. They
said they plan to honor their father by getting their degrees and
living lives according to his principles.

Amanios’ family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for his
three kids’ college education. Those interested in donating can go to:

“He loved and cherished his family which led to his immigration to the
United States in order to provide his family an opportunity for a
better life,” the family’s GoFundMe page said.
