Asmara, 17 November 2015 - The Bank of Eritrea has issued the following additional information on the redemption of old Nacfa currency notes in circulation.
Legal Notice 124/2015 Article 5(2) stipulates that “All private enterprises or individuals can deposit the old Nakfa currency notes, irrespective of their amount, within the first two weeks of the transaction period”.
However, with a view to ease the workload of the banks, exchange of old Nakfa currency notes that do not exceed 20,000 Nakfa will only be permitted in the four weeks that follow i.e. from 2 December 2015 to 30th December 2015.
