Osman is the fourth in a series of five artists that we have so far published.

Just as there was a Londonpå Swinging 60s, there was a Swinging Addis and Asmara of Africa hornmed great music, though not nearly as well known in the West. But it was as much a musical bonanza. Just like in the US, Europe, Brazil and the rest of the world was a youth revolution with messy guitar based music and tight bras sections. Horn of Africa was invaded by American jazz, rock and Latin music that inspired the musicians there and was mixed up with the traditional music of the region. It popped up independent record label that released the innovative music. This gold mine discovered the French music producer Francis Falcetoi mid-1980s which then released 28 albums in the series Etiopiques with music from this era that is now cult in the United States and Europe. During this era, it was the Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie who hired the musicians on the national theaters and controlled culture that was creative and relatively freely. 1974 was deposed Haile Selassie and it was put a damper on the former music scene.

Osman Abdul Rahim live in Stockholm since 1983, when he fled from Eritrea because of war and dictatorship. He began his career by singing on Haile Selassie National Theatre in Addis Ababa and later in Asmara Theatre in the 60s. He got a big hit with his song "Love is blind" and he became a well-known artist both in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Sudan.
