Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has disclosed that his
government is considering withdrawing its citizens from strife-torn
Yemen.Speaking to the National Broadcasting Corporation on Thursday,
the premier said a committee under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is
striving to mobilize, protect as well as withdraw Ethiopian nationals
voluntarily from the Middle Eastern country.

The premier noted Ethiopia’s support to the troubled country within
the framework of the Sana’a forum for destabilizing terrorist groups
such as al-Shabaab in Somalia and Al-Qaeda.

Hailemariam said Yemen, Ethiopia, Sudan and Djibouti and other
countries are working together to help the troubled Yemeni government
emerge from the crisis.

The prime minister expressed Ethiopia’s firm stand that the Yemeni
government should be protected and justified the current military
intervention led by Saudi Arabia to defeat Houthi rebels.

Ethiopia has over 50, 000 of its citizens living and working in Yemen.
