FM Osman Saleh delivering a speech at the General Debate of the 69th Session of UNGA
By TesfaNews,
IN a statement he delivered at the General Debate of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Eritrean Foreign Minister H.E. Osman Saleh, said that the United Nations remains stuck in the past and has fallen far short of playing the primary role in the pursuit of the fundamental objectives for which it was established.
He also said that the UN remains thoroughly dominated by the few and has marginalized the overwhelming majority.
FM Osman also touched on Eritrea’s perspective on the need for an overhaul of the UN system which, he said, is informed not only by the shared experience of the majority of nations, but also by its own history. He also said the Eritrean people was victimized by the silence of the UN when the international system and dominant powers dealt the Eritrean people with a raw deal.
To add insult to injury, these forces making use of the UN recently has imposed unjust sanctions on Eritrea with no justification.
He finally called upon the UN and the UN Security Council to redress these injustices by taking concrete measure to end the illegal occupation of sovereign Eritrean territory and unconditionally and immediately lift the unjust and unfair sanctions.
