In a morning already packed with emotions, reunions, and discussion, the 9th Annual YPFDJ North America Conference began today Friday, August 30. Hundreds of young Eritreans from as far as Boston, Toronto, and Europe converged on the Bay Area, conveying a strong presence from airports to the conference site. The conference began with the iconic raising of the flags of our country and movement, and the singing of the national anthem and Wudbna.
The ceremony began with an opening by Dr. Woldai Futur, Director of the Eritrean Investment Center, presenting the theme of "Economic and Professional Development of Eritrea and Eritreans." The conference will also focus on the long-term future of the movement, as we consolidate new members and chapters, and further internalize the ideal of self-reliance in our everyday work.
