To all Eritrean comrades, youth, and communities,
The YPFDJ North America Coordinating Committee (NACC), which includes heads
of National Committees and Regional Coordinating Committees (RCC), held an
all day workshop in Washington, DC on Saturday July 13, 2013. The National
Committees are Niqhat, Home Focused Project, Community Service, Media,
Networking, Fundraising, Skills Development, Culture and Identity, and
Hidri.
During the meeting, the committee deliberated on various issues regarding
the movement. Present at the meeting was Btsai Berhane Gebrehiwet, Charge
d’Affaires and Head of Public and Community Affairs at the Eritrean
Embassy, who presented on the political and symbolic significance of NACC.
He reminded participants of the opportunity and responsibilities NACC
carries and called on the body to collectively shoulder these
responsibilities.
Btsai Dawit Haile, Head of Organizational and Youth Affairs at the Eritrean
Embassy, on his part presented on Organizational Structure, Policies and
Procedures. Btsai Dawit emphasized that NACC is the body responsible for
coordinating all YPFDJ-NA activities but Chapters have the ultimate
responsibility of implementing all programs.
Btsai Mekonnen G-mariam, NACC Chair, along with heads of each committee as
well as RCC heads presented Progress Reports of NACC. Following these
presentations, the committee assessed the state of the organization and
identified areas of opportunities for improvement. NACC also made necessary
structural adjustments.
Participants discussed the upcoming 9th Annual YPFDJ-NA conference and
related items such as registration, fundraising and programming.
Additionally, NACC agreed to finalize work plans for the fiscal year
2013-2014 and get them approved at the conference.
The workshop concluded with a general questions and answers session, and
with everyone attending the 5th Annual YPFDJ DC Benefit Dinner at the
Eritrean Civic and Cultural Center.
