*O**ur** **RedSea** boys ended up in a goalless draw at the **CECAFA** under
17 tournament being held in Sudan. The host team had to forfeit after
defeating Tanzania 3-0 with overage players but will get their team together
for their next two games and they are still in contention. There are two
Eritrean Referees in this event one linesman and one main referee who **
refed** in the Somalia vs Malawi game. Here below are details of that game
and other games.**
*

*Rwanda 0 Eritrea 0*

*Rwanda who finished fourth behind Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya in the inaugural
tournament in Burundi two years ago were held to a barren draw in a Group C
match staged in **Wadmadeni**.It was a high-paced match with players from
both sides showing off their skills.*

Malawi 3 Somalia 1

*Guest side Malawi played the better part of the second half a man less but
still managed to beat Somalia 3-1 in another Group A match played at the **
Usra** Club in Khartoum. Malawi snatched the lead in the 13th minute through
Andrew **Mpetina** before **Lughindiko** **Mushani** scored a double in the
16th and 40th minutes. Somalia’s lone goal came in the 20th minute through *
*Abdiaziz** **Mohamedali**. Malawi suffered a major blow in the 66th minute
when Francis **Mulimbika** was sent off by **Lulesseged**
**Ghebremichael**(Eritrea) for unsporting behaviour.
*

*Kenya 1 Zanzibar 3*

*High scoring continued in the **Juba**-based Group B when Zanzibar hit
Kenya 3-1 at the **Juba** Stadium. The match was a repeat of their
preliminary fixture in Burundi two years ago which when then drawn
1-1.Thursday’s match, coming only a day after Uganda had walloped Ethiopia
4-0 in the tournament’s opener saw the islanders take the lead in the 21st
minute through Mohamed **Abdulahi**. They stretched the lead eight minutes
later through **Juma** Ali before Kenya pulled one back in the 69th minute
through a Daniel **Mwaura** converted penalty. **Nassor** Ali threw Kenya’s
hopes in the dustbin when he scored the third on the stroke of **fulltime**.
*
*We will have more updates as the games continue. Meanwhile Eritrea will
face defending champions Burundi on August 22nd.*
