Bisrat Negassi the Eritrean top designer based in Europe adds to her résumé
the job description for a movie costume designer. The Eritrean designer is
working in a German movie staring David Kross set to be released in 2010.
David Kross became more famous after playing a leading role in the movie
“The Reader” opposite Kate Winslett. A costume designer is a crucial part of
the “Production Team” in a movie project. According to Wikipedia a Costume
Designer “will typically seek to enhance a character's persona, and/or to
create an evolving plot of color, changing social status or period through
the visual design of garments and other means of dressing, distorting and
enhancing the body - within the framework of the director's vision”
The movie Bisrat to be part of is entitled “Same Same But Different”, it is
a movie based on a true story. Costume Designer's role is a key role and
this must be a big deal for Bisrat. One of the numerous Academy Awards
awarded to the movie “Slum Dog Millioner” was for Costume Designing, it
would be great to see Bisrat’s work recognized in such a manner. I don’t
know if this movie will be an Oscar contender but wish Bisrat good luck
anyway.
