Suspects Arrested Over Tana Unrest

Cape Town - A mass grave was discovered on Monday in Kenya's Tana River
region, a police source in the area has told AFP.

The police officer said there could be more people killed in the fighting
between Pokomo and Orma ethnic groups than previously thought, the news
agency reports.

The bodies will be exhumed.

 <http://allafrica.com/stories/201209180053.html> Capital FM reports that
fresh violence broke out in Tana River on Monday, where 22 houses were razed
in a village even as over 2,000 heavily armed para-military GSU officers
patrolled the troubled region.

Residents whose homes were burnt on Monday had already fled to seek refuge
with their relatives in far-flung areas - and in schools within Tarassa
division.

The deadly violence has claimed at least 100 lives and led to area Member of
Parliament Dhadho Godhana losing his job as Livestock Assistant Minister
after he was accused of inciting the warring communities.

Godhana has since appeared in court to face incitement charges, but he
denies the allegations.
