Press TV:
Senate: US will support Israeli attack against Iran
Foreign Relations Committee of the U.S. Senate has voted in favor of a
resolution stipulating that U.S. will support Israel in case it takes
military action against Iran, according to ynetnews.com.
Members of the U.S. Senate's Foreign Relations Committee adopted "Senate
Resolution 65," according to which Israel will enjoy Washington’s
diplomatic, economic and military aid.
Tel Aviv has repeatedly threatened Tehran with a military attack over the
Islamic Republic’s civil nuclear activities. Israel itself possesses
hundreds of atomic warheads, which critics say are a real threat to the
Middle East.
The U.S., Israel, and some Western states suspect that Tehran’s nuclear
program may be cover for a weapons drive. Iranian authorities reject the
allegations, saying, as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran has the right
to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
In a statement issued by AIPAC it was noted that The Senate Foreign
Relations Committee has sent a very clear message of solidarity with Israel
against Iran. Senate Resolution 65 successfully gained the support of 70 of
the 100 senators, according to AFP.
In response to previous threats, Tehran had warned that it makes no
distinction between U.S. and Israeli interests in the region and will
retaliate against both if attacked.

A political analyst says that Israel cannot attack Iran and these are
nothing but threats because Israel is a very weak country and it is nothing
but a tiger of cartoon which has lots of weaknesses in its surrounding
borders.
The comments came after the Israeli military chief Lt. Gen Benny Gantz
repeated warmongering rhetoric against the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying
the regime can invade Iran on its own. This is while the US Senate Foreign
Relations Committee has adopted a resolution to assist Israel in case of a
military attack against Iran. On Tuesday, the US Senate Foreign Relations
Committee adopted "Senate Resolution 65," according to which the US will
provide the Israeli regime with diplomatic, economic and military
assistance if Tel Aviv decides to launch an attack against Iran.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Redwan Rizk, political
commentator, to further discuss the issue.
